Garagee , (pronounced gar/adji(y)) is the alter-ego of Melbourne based multi-instrumentalist, Rob McPherson.
Rob lives, eats and breathes music, when he's not playing, composing or performing it, he's listening to, enjoying and reflecting on music of all genres and origins...
Omnipresent in the Melbourne live music scene for the last 12 years, Rob has performed and written with a wide array of bands, both original and covers, ranging from blues ('Boogie Chillun' - with Ash Grunwald) to contemporary pop rock ('Hydraplane' & 'Tall Order'), jazz ('The Kate Lucas Trio' - on bass), indie ('Chairmen Of The Bored' - with Tim Burnham) and roots ('Wren' - on banjo and ruan) just to name a few.
Trips to China and Tibet (in 2007) introduced a plethora of weird and wonderful eastern instrument tones to Rob's musical palette, so along with extensive field recordings made on these trips, he returned with as many of these instruments as he could carry (including ruan, liuqin, hulusi, erhu, sheng, prayer bowls and chimes, saz etc.).
The result is Garagee, a combination of chilled out electronics, guitars & eastern instrumentation.
Ranging from the filmic to groovey, Garagee has been compared to the likes of Cornelius, Lemon Jelly, Squarepusher and is a fine addition to Tempest’s stable of chill artists.
